Yesterday, a mikoshi procession for the Konno Hachimangu Annual Festival took place in Shibuya.

Unfortunately, the day brought rainy weather, but many participants still gathered in the streets of Shibuya and carried the mikoshi through the city with energetic chants.

With the procession taking place in the rain, the mikoshi was carefully protected with a large clear waterproof cover.

The sight of participants in rain gear carrying the covered mikoshi through the rainy streets offered a different atmosphere from a festival on a sunny day.

Seeing a mikoshi procession pass through places usually filled with shoppers and tourists, such as the Shibuya Scramble Crossing and Shibuya Center-gai, is also a unique part of experiencing a local festival in Shibuya.

Throughout September, annual shrine festivals and mikoshi processions take place in different parts of Shibuya.
