The Onden Shrine Annual Festival is coming up this weekend in the Harajuku and Jingumae area!

September is festival season in Shibuya and Harajuku, with annual shrine festivals taking place throughout the area. Onden Shrine kicks off the season’s mikoshi processions.

This year, the Yoimiya evening festival will be held on Saturday, September 5, followed by the annual festival and mikoshi procession on Sunday, September 6.

Festival Schedule

• Saturday, September 5, 6:00 PM — Yoimiya Evening Festival
• Sunday, September 6, 11:00 AM — Annual Festival
• Sunday, September 6, 12:30 PM — Mikoshi Departure Ceremony
• Sunday, September 6, 1:00 PM — Sanwaka Mikoshi Joint Procession

If you’d like to see the mikoshi procession, we recommend visiting the Harajuku and Omotesando area on the afternoon of Sunday, September 6.

Festival stalls are also expected to be set up on the shrine grounds.
